Jharkhand's High Court Judge's blunt criticism of IAS officer: seek legal advice if law is misunderstood

K Srinivasan, a 2005 batch Jharkhand cadre IAS officer, today got a piece of mind from Jharkhand High Court judge Rajesh Shanker today.

Said that he cited his inability to  properly understand the apex court's order as the reason for not filing a reply in the petition before the court.

"If you don't understand the law, consult a legal expert," the judge said verbally. The matter was related to the delay in issuing a caste certificate to Cheek Badaik. Vinod Badaik filed the petition. At the last meeting, the court ordered to file a reply in the matter.

The High Court directed him to file a reply before adjourning the matter for seven days. In addition, the court also ordered him to be physically present at the time of the next hearing.

IAS Srinivasan is currently Secretary of the Department of Scheduled Tribes, Castes, Minorities and Backward Classes, with additional charges of Secretary, Ministry of Transport and Labor Commissioner.
